If your child is struggling to read, there's a reason. And there's a path forward.
Dyslexia doesn't mean your child can't learn to read. It means they need to be taught differently.
What is the Connections program?
Connections is a structured literacy program developed specifically for students with dyslexia. It's not a generic tutoring approach — it's a research-based methodology that teaches reading the way dyslexic learners actually need to be taught: systematically, explicitly, and with consistent repetition that builds real decoding skills over time.
Dr. Borck is trained in the Connections program through the Apple Group and is currently completing her certification as a dyslexia therapist. She uses this same program as a Tier 3 intervention in her K–8 district, so she's not just certified in it — she's seen it work firsthand with students who had tried everything else.
Who this is for
Connections is designed for students — and adults — who:
Have been diagnosed with dyslexia or show signs of it
Are significantly behind in reading despite effort and support
Have tried other tutoring approaches without meaningful progress
Are struggling with decoding, spelling, or fluency
We work primarily with students in K–8, but this program is appropriate for any age. Adults with dyslexia are welcome too.
How it works
Sessions are one hour and held twice a week — consistency is key with this program, and less than that tends to slow progress significantly. The program is ongoing and individualized — there's no fixed endpoint because every student moves at their own pace. What stays constant is the methodology and the progression.
Both in-person and virtual sessions are available.
What to expect
The goal of this program is straightforward: your child will learn to read.
Not just get by. Not just cope with accommodations. Actually read — because they've been taught the foundational skills their brain needs to decode language.
Progress looks different for every student, but families consistently see their child gain confidence alongside their reading skills. For many kids, this is the first time reading has ever started to make sense.
